Bellevue Intro Meet
Especially for new members, Thundersharks, and Age Group swimmers, the BSC Intro Meet resulted in some great swims. 7 swimmers brought home 18 best times and 4 new swimmers swam in their first meet with HLA. Swimmers of the meet were Allie Vanek, dropping a total of 15 seconds in her events, and Bailey Brewster, dropping a total of 20 seconds in his events. Wow! Great job Allie, Bailey, and all of the HLA swimmers who participated in this early meet.
MOST/OWSC Swim Fest
The first meet of the season open to all HLA swimmers resulted in 17 swimmers posting 58 personal best times. Alexis Altmaier, Hayden Holecheck, Carter Lyons, Brooke Nelson, and Emily Whipple led the way with at least 5 personal bests each. Carter Lyons (5) and Ellie Walstad (1) each collected D-1 qualifying times. The swim of the meet was a tie between Emily Whipple for her 16.95 second time drop in the 100 back, and to Alexis Altmaier for dropping 2:12.75 in the 1000free and earning a AAA time standard. Great job girls!!
LSS Spooky Splash
31 HLA swimmers posted a total of 95 best times!! 16 swimmers achieved 20 D-1 qualifying times and Alexis Altmaier and Sydney Schneider achieved AAA time standards. Swimmers of the meet went to Carter Lyons and Sydney Schneider. Carter earned 5 D-1 qualifying times and Sydney swam to 5 zone qualifying times. Congrats Carter and Sydney!!
MAC Pentathlon
11 HLA swimmers posted 34 best times!! Jillian Altmaier, Adam Kuszak, and Conor Kearns each earned D-1 qualifying times throughout the weekend. The swimmer of the meet went to Alexis Altmaier who went 5 for 5 for personal best times and dropped 5.84 seconds in the 200IM to win the 11-12 high point award. Congratulations Alexis!
MAC Senior 3-Session
11 HLA swimmers achieved 24 personal best times. Meghan Senne's time in the 500free was HLA's lone D-1 qualifying time for the weekend and was amongst the 5 best times that she swam earning her "swimmer of the meet". Congratulations Meghan!!!
HLA Goggle Gobble
This year's turnout was better than last year's and the results were just as fabulous. 74 HLA swimmers (including first time swims) achieved 287 personal best times and 13 swimmers earned 24 D-1 qualifying times. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! With so many great swims from tons of new and returning swimmers it was too hard to select "swimmers of the meet". That award goes to the ENTIRE HLA TEAM!! Way to go TEAM!! The individual SWIM of the meet went to Ellie Walstad swimming the 400IM for the first time with her HLA teammates cheering her on. Great job Ellie and to EVERYONE who joined us for a great meet again this year.
GNST Winter Swimvitational
16 swimmers posted 45 personal best times and 10 swimmers achieved 15 D-1 cuts over the weekend. Alexa Goldenstein earned swimmer of the meet honors going 9 for 9 in personal best times. Swim of the meet was a tie between Sara Meyer (100back) and Mark Grodnov (200breast) for dropping a whopping 10 seconds each AND to newly graduated from Thundersharks to Age Group swimmer Ana Thacker for her first 200IM. Congratulations Sara, Mark, Ana, and all HLA swimmers for a great weekend!!
Wichita Swim Club Level 1 Championships
Alex Kuszak and Alexis Altmaier made an extra trip and traveled to Wichita to swim in the MVS Level 1 Championships. Each walked out with personal best times. Alexis posted 4 AAAA times. 1 AAA time, and 1 Austin Grand Prix time standard. Congratulations to both Alex and Alexis!!
SO Single Age Meet
A small contingent of HLA swimmers traveled to Omaha to the single age meet. HLA had 5 swimmers collect 11 personal best times! Congratulations to all of you!!
Congratulations Midwest All Stars!
Congratulations to Heartland Aquatics swimmers Alex Kuszak, Alexis Altmaier, Alexa Goldenstein, Sydney Schneider, and Shelby Mullendore on qualifying for and competing in the Midwest All Star Meet in Lawrence, Kansas this past weekend. They competed against teams from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. Coach Erik also made the trip as the Co-Head Coach for the Midwest All Star Team. All of the swimmers had a fantastic meet!! LOOK at what they accomplished over the weekend....
- Alex Kuszak broke 2 HLA team records in the 200 Free (with a AAA time) and the 500 Free and had 5 personal bests out of 6 individual races. He posted top 10 finishes in the 200 Free(4th), 100 Fly(7th), 200IM(9th), 500 Free(3rd), 200 Fly(7th) and the 400 Free Relay(5th).
- Alexis Altmaier broke 4 HLA team records in the 200 Free, 50 Fly, 500 Free, and the 200IM while swimming 4 personal best times out of 6 individual events. She achieved three new AAAA times in the 200 Free, 500 Free, and the 200IM. Alexis posted top 10 finishes in ALL of her events: 200 Free(2nd), 50 Fly(1st), 500 Free(2nd), 100IM(5th), 200IM(2nd), 100 Fly(1st), 200 Medley Relay(3rd), 200 Free Relay(5th).
- Alexa Goldenstein broke the HLA team record in the 100 Breast and achieved zone cuts in the 100IM and 200IM. She swam 6 personal bests out of 6 individual events!! Alexa posted top 10 finishes in the 100 Breast(9th), 100IM(7th) and the 200 Free Relay(5th).
- Sydney Schneider swam to a AAAA time in the 50 Fly and achieved a zone cut in the 50 Back while recording 5 personal best times out of 6 individual events. She posted top 10 finishes in the 50 Fly(6th), 100 Back(2nd), 50 Back(5th), 200IM(10th), 100 Fly(4th), 200 Medley Relay(1st), 200 Free Relay(7th).
- Shelby Mullendore achieved 4 zone cuts in the 100 Back, 50 Back, 100 Free, and the 100 Fly. She swam to 5 personal bests out of 6 individual events and posted top 10 finishes in the 100 Back(8th), 50 Back(6th), 100 Free(7th), 200 Medley Relay(1st), and the 200 Free Relay(1st).
